ABOUT FTII-

FTII, also known as the Film and Television Institute of India, is a training institute that was founded in 1960 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India. The Film and Television Institute of India is housed in the former Prabhat Film Company in Pune. Shekhar Kapur is the chairman of the Film and Television of India. The FTII Campus is currently located on the grounds of the former Prabhat Studio. Prabhat Studio was a pioneer in the filmmaking industry, moving to Pune from Kolhapur in 1933. The archaic studios of the time that were the production grounds for Prabhat's films are still present and are used at FTII. The old Prabhat Studios are now heritage structures, and FTII students continue to work at the world's oldest operating film studios.

SHEKHAR KAPUR’S MESSAGE FOR THE AUDITIONEES-:

"All of us are born creative. Society, or perhaps our educational system, teaches us to suppress our creative urges as we grow older. As a result, we lose the desire to express how we perceive our surroundings. Because we all see the world differently. No one perceives the same way, just like our individual fingerprints. An artist is defined by their courage to express their worldview. It doesn't matter if you're a filmmaker, a painter, a poet, or a musician. The bravery to approach an empty canvas and make the first brush stroke. That first brush stroke opens up the rest of the painting, the rest of the symphony, and the rest of the film. There is no teaching, but there is co-learning between the teacher and those who are being taught. In some ways, relearning your creative expression entails an unlearning process. "I am looking forward to a tremendous learning and unlearning experience for myself during my tenure as Chairman of the Institute," Shekhar Kapur says.
